Well Project 2010-2012
With the generous donation from two community members for land easements, a grant was requested to assist in the drilling of a new well. This well was to act as a back-up / secondary source to make the system more reliable. The project was complete in 2010 |
System Overview
The Hilltop water system is fed by an artesian well located in the west end of Swall Meadows to an underground 7500-gallon reservoir at Mountain View Drive and Orchard Road, and thence to 14 parcels in Hilltop Estates. The pressure available to each residence from the artesian system depends on the elevation drop from Orchard Road. In 2014 a new well and pressurization system was added to the system to create a secondary water source as backup and to improve system reliability. Hilltop Estates are annually assessed by parcel and is managed by Mono County as part of your annual property tax. Each parcel has a valved service lateral. Water sampling is conducted monthly for coli-form and e coli. Samples are collected by a Distribution Operator and analyzed at the Mammoth Community Water District laboratory.
